*Warning: Major spoilers ahead for Euphoria season three episode eight* For better or worse, Euphoria season three is over, and already fans are asking the same question: Will there be a fourth chapter? HBO has given us the answer, but not everyone’s convinced it’s the end end. One thing we know for sure is that Euphoria will never be the same. After three seasons and seven years, Rue (Zendaya) is dead. Our narrating protagonist finally succumbed to her addiction, taking a Percocet from Alamo (Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje). Little did she realise that the rest of the bottle of pills he gave her were laced with Fentanyl, an intentional move after Alamo found out that she’d been working with the DEA. Credit: HBO Ali (Colman Domingo) finds her dead the next morning, which triggers him to give up on recovery and get cold-blooded revenge. While it works as a conclusion, bringing Rue’s story to a close, there are still so many unanswered questions. What does Maddy (Alexa Demie) do with her life post-Alamo? Will Ali end up in prison? And how long is Jules (Hunter Schafer) going to sit in her sugar daddy’s apartment for? Whether we meet any of these characters again or not is yet to be seen, but HBO has confirmed that the flagship show’s future. So, will there be Euphoria season 4? Credit: HBO No, Sam Levinson appeared on the latest episode of Popcast, where he confirmed Euphoria season three episode eight really is the end – meaning no season four. “In terms of the story that we set out to tell, which is a story about addiction and its consequences, this feels like the end to me,” he explained. “It’s a tragic one in the end, but it’s also the truth,” Levinson added. “If you are experimenting or taking drugs today, it’s very possible it’ll kill you.” When asked to further clarify if this is definitely the end, he replied, “Yeah, I mean, what else is there to say?” HBO further confirmed this to Variety. That said, some fans think a spinoff might be happening in the future. Spinoff speculation has caused division among fans Credit: HBO Taking to Reddit, one user shared a screenshot of what appears to be HBO responding to a comment asking whether the latest episode is the season or series finale. “The upcoming episode is the season 3 finale of Euphoria,” it reads. “We recommend keeping an eye on the ‘Coming Soon’ section of the HBO Max app and staying tuned on our social media channels for the latest updates regarding the series. Have a wonderful day!” It’s worth noting that the post has since been deleted on Reddit, but before it was, it sparked a debate about whether this means there could be a spinoff or not. “Somebody asked HBO Max online if this was the season finale or the series finale… looks like there may be plans for a spinoff series,” wrote the poster. One person quipped, “I think whoever among the actors says ‘ok’ to staying on the project will be the center of the spinoff.” Credit: HBO Another said, “If you look at the career trajectories of the mains, Maude Apatow and Alexa Demie are the only ones who haven’t had *major* cinematic roles.” A third added, “I feel like the smartest choice would be to have the spin-off starring Alexa Demie. She’s made to play Maddy and I have trouble seeing her in other projects.” However, others aren’t convinced and believe the message is just an automated response. “This is just a courteous, non-specific, approved answer they can give on the future of the series,” said one. “Unless it is the advertised ‘series finale’ of a show this is likely the answer you’ll always get for any show.” Another said, “Sounds to me like corporate speak for ‘Euphoria is over, but please don’t cancel your HBO subscription!’” For all the latest film and TV updates and hot takes, like our Facebook page.
