Er, how did *that* happen to Sheline in The Boys? Here’s an actual explanation of her powers

In season five episode seven of The Boys, the villain Sheline meets a sticky end. Starlight and Mother’s Milk fight Teenage Kix. Mother’s Milk manages to finish her off with the anti-superhero virus. So, what can Teenage Kix even do? Why was Sheline so freaked out by water? Here’s a proper explanation of Sheline’s powers, to help you make sense of her death in The Boys.

Sheline seems to be a parody of Catwoman

In the world of The Boys, Teenage Kix is a group of younger superheroes. The concept seems to be inspired by Teen Titans in DC Comics. The Teenage Kix members in The Boys appear to be based on an assortment of DC characters. Sheline seems to be a parody of Catwoman. Her name is a portmanteau of “she” and “feline”. Get it?

In films, Catwoman is usually a “cat burglar” who wears clingy catsuits and flirts with Batman. However, The Boys went the extra mile and actually gave Sheline physical characteristics of cats. She is extra agile, she can jump really high, and her nails are sharp like claws. However, she also has some less helpful traits of cats. In season five episode two, Countess Crow admits Sheline hunts and eats her birds. We also see Sheline sh*ts in a litter-box (and often directly on her bedroom floor in the Kix Crib).

A behind-the-scenes video explains what Sheline actually does

In a bonus video on social media, we see Sheline, Countess Crow and Jetstreak do a livestream. Jetstreak says: “I’m passing the phone to someone that I’ve seen chase a laser pointer for literally hours.” That confirms Sheline often behaves more like a cat than a human.

Although Sheline’s day job is supposedly hunting down Starlighters, in this video the Supes quickly switch to promoting products for “beauty, wellness, small arms, mental wellness”. Sheline says, “Justice isn’t just served, right? It’s styled!” This explains why it wasn’t too hard for Mother’s Milk and Starlight to overpower Sheline during that fight. Sheline doesn’t actually have much experience of combat. Her main occupation is churning out spon con videos.

Why was Mother’s Milk able to defeat Sheline with water?

Well, we know Sheline shares many physical traits and instincts with cats. When she’s offered a glass of water to drink, she protests, “I’m a cat!” It seems the writers intended for Sheline to hate water, as it’s widely believed cats hate water (although a vet might fight you over how true that is). So, when Mother’s Milk splashed water at Sheline, this really threw her, and he was able to overpower her. Case closed.
