Natasha Lyonne has set the record straight after she posted a series of unexpected tweets in which she left everyone assuming she’s now MAGA. It all started on Tuesday, October 20, when Lyonne responded to a video shared by Anonymous showing a protester interrupting JD Vance at a rally and demanding the release of the Epstein files. Alongside the clip, she wrote: “Sketchy mofo – prefer Trump – this sh*t is even scarier,” before describing the current political climate as “Grimey times.” Sketchy mofo – prefer trump – this shit is even scarier – don’t really know how we arrived at this aesthetic as baseline normal, but c’est la dominoes, etc. Octavia Butler was a soothsayer. Grimey times. https://t.co/hxslrYtPVn — natasha lyonne (@nlyonne) October 20, 2026 A commenter then asked her to clarify what she meant by “prefer Trump,” to which she wrote, “To insert Manchurian Candidate here?” For the uninitiated, Manchurian Candidate is a term for someone who’s been manipulated or secretly controlled by another person or organisation, often to serve a hidden political agenda. It comes from the 1959 novel and its film adaptations, which involve a brainwashed political figure. To insert Manchurian Candidate here? https://t.co/q7o0SAPuHt — natasha lyonne (@nlyonne) October 20, 2026 So it appears Lyonne is essentially saying that JD Vance is even more unsettling to her than Trump. But the issue is that it came just minutes after another confusing post. Donald Trump tweeted thanking his “legendary friend” Elon Musk for “giving SpaceX Stock to millions of American children through Trump accounts”. The Poker Face star responded with four emojis: a rocket, a salute, the sun and the sunglasses emoji. This left her fans even more confused, believing it to mean Lyonne was showing support. “You’re too cool to believe this stupid sh*t,” said one, while another wrote, “Welp, you’ve lost a fan.” Others were more optimistic, including this person who said, “Please tell me this means you want to launch them into the sun and watch?” So, is Natasha Lyonne actually MAGA? Despite concerns, Natasha Lyonne isn’t a Trump supporter. Realising so many people were confused, the Euphoria star responded to a post saying it’s “sarcasm” alongside a picture of her wearing a ‘Make America Gay Again’ hat. #MakeAmericaGayAgain 🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️🐝😎 sorry – thought these were just murmurs into the ether – didn’t realize it was a whole thing. 🕊️ https://t.co/O7aUx5NJMH — natasha lyonne (@nlyonne) October 20, 2026 Alongside this, Lyonne wrote, “#MakeAmericaGayAgain… sorry – thought these were just murmurs into the ether – didn’t realize it was a whole thing.” But just in case that wasn’t clear enough, she also replied to a tweet asking, “So is Natasha Lyonne MAGA now or am I misreading her posts?” Her response? “Not maga.” It also appears that she’s since deleted the emoji response to Trump’s Elon tweet. Not maga https://t.co/d1nm59LdxZ — natasha lyonne (@nlyonne) October 21, 2026 To be fair, it would have been an almighty u-turn given Lyonne has previously been vocal about her opposition to Trump. Back in 2016, she explicitly told people “don’t vote for Trump” in an interview with NYLON, and she publicly supported Kamala Harris during the 2024 presidential election.
