Andrew Garfield has unexpectedly landed himself in hot water this week after telling billionaires to be scared of his new movie, and it has a lot to do with his net worth. The Spider-Man star takes on the lead role in director Paul Greengrass’ The Uprising, which drops later this week and was momentarily (and rather confusingly) marketed as a new take on Robin Hood. That was soon corrected by the UK distributor, which confirmed the historical epic isn’t about the heroic outlaw but rather the Peasants’ Revolt of 1381. This was a true historical event in post-Black Death England, which saw thousands of ordinary people rise up against the ruling elite following years of growing inequality and restrictions on workers. Notably, the poor were made to pay the same level of taxes as the rich. All of these elements led to a huge uprising, with rebels marching on London and directly challenging the power of the monarchy and ruling classes. And I hope that if any billionaires watch it, they’re scared sh*tless.” His heart is clearly in the right place, but some people feel his comments are a little out of touch. “‘Our own struggles’, bro’s a millionaire,” wrote one on TikTok, while another asked on X, “Isn’t he a multi-millionaire?” A third added, “Pretty sure he is a multi millionaire unless I missed where he gives all his millions away. How much do you think he got paid playing Spiderman in TWO films?” All of this begs the question… What actually is Andrew Garfield’s net worth?
