Jack Antonoff and Margaret Qualley have reportedly called time on their relationship after almost three years of marriage, and the internet has immediately started dragging Joe Alwyn into the conversation. According to People, the Bleachers frontman and the Golden Globe-nominated actress have separated after first getting together in 2021 and tying the knot in August 2023. Jack and Joe were both close to Taylor Swift during her relationship with Alwyn, with Jack becoming one of Taylor’s closest collaborators and producers while Joe dated her for more than six years. People have spent years convinced Jack wasn’t exactly Joe’s biggest fan. One of the biggest moments came in late 2023 when Jack shared an Instagram post revealing Taylor’s breakup song You’re Losing Me had actually been written and recorded back in December 2021. Swifties took that as Jack confirming Taylor and Joe’s relationship had been struggling long before the public knew. Now Margaret’s name has been pulled into the discussion too. Margaret and Joe worked together on Claire Denis’ 2022 romantic thriller Stars at Noon, where they played the two lead roles, Trish and Daniel. The pair later reunited in Kinds of Kindness in 2024. During press for Stars at Noon, Margaret even joked that after filming together she “used to smell like Joe Alwyn”, thanks to how much time they’d spent working in close quarters. A24 That history has fuelled a fresh wave of online theories suggesting Jack may have felt uncomfortable about the pair’s friendship, although there’s absolutely no evidence that’s connected to the reported separation. Joe, meanwhile, is currently believed to be dating actress Sarah Ramos. People have been roasting Jack online regardless, with one viral post reading: “He spent two whole years making ‘Taylor’s Best Friend’ his entire personality just to try and win a beef Joe didn’t even know he was in.” Neither Jack Antonoff nor Margaret Qualley has commented publicly on the reported split.
