Ok, who was Cynthia Erivo shading in comment about Ariana Grande getting cast in Wicked?

Cynthia Erivo has been in the midst of a fair bit of drama in the build up to the release of the long awaited Wicked film, in which she stars as Elphaba across from Ariana Grande as Glinda. Between the poster saga and everything that went down there. But now Cynthia Erivo has caused more Wicked drama by throwing some shade at whoever else auditioned for Glinda before Ariana Grande got the role.

When Cynthia Erivo was asked what her reaction to the news Ariana Grande had bagged the role of Glinda for the Wicked movie, she threw shade saying “Absolutely no surprise whatsoever. Thank goodness, because it was not the two ladies that I was auditioning with.”

Obviously, that kind of comment is going to get people’s backs up, and also get people wondering who the hell Cynthia Erivo is throwing that shade at, and who she auditioned with for Wicked. Everyone is theorising who it could be – and there are four big names being discussed on Twitter and Reddit.

Universal PR should watch out for such unforced errors considering it is public knowledge who auditioned several times for Glinda thus most likely with Cynthia Erivo.

She got the role and so did the one she wanted for Glinda so why the urge to still make the others feel bad ? https://t.co/Iv6tV1F25l pic.twitter.com/qJrPebfEWm

In a tweet condemning Cynthia’s comment, one tweet showed off four actresses who went for the role of Glinda that Erivo may have been referring to. The first is Amanda Seyfried, who is no stranger to a movie musical after taking lead roles as Cosette in Les Mis and of course in Mamma Mia too.

The next is Dove Cameron, who has publicly said that she went for the role. Broadway divas Renee Rapp and Taylor Louderman are other contenders it could have been.

The film isn’t even out yet and there’s been so much drama! Early reviews of the film have been hailing it one of the greatest adaptations ever, though – so I can’t wait for that.
