The Wicked: For Good trailer gives away two massive spoilers and everyone is freaking out

I know the musical’s been out for 20 years but COME ON

We’re all about to hold space once again when Wicked: For Good drops, but now the final trailer is in our green clutches all I can think of is the huge misfire that the trailer creators have done which literally spoil some of the biggest twists in the entire musical. I know, I know, before you come for me with pitchforks I am well aware that the musical has existed for 20 years and for loads of people who are going to watch the film adaptation of act two they know exactly how the story ends. But do you know how many people I knew who went to watch the first Wicked and it was nothing like they expected because they had no clue what happened in it? These people walk amongst us, and those people just had the entire plot of Wicked: For Good spoiled by two major spoilers in the trailer that feels utterly daft.

Huge spoilers for Wicked: For Good lie ahead. Tread carefully.

The trailer reveals a LOT

The decision to split Wicked the musical into last year’s first film and the second film, titled Wicked: For Good, has been a mixed one. But overall, good times and good space given to characters. However, it has led the second film to being kind of heavy with conclusion – which means the trailer has given away a lot of how much the stakes are upped.

Notably, it gives some big spoilers that those who haven’t seen the stage show might have no clue about. It’s been widely reported that the second Wicked film For Good would contain Dorothy and her trip to Oz but it didn’t really get reported just who her companions are.

In case you didn’t know, and I’m sorry to tell you this, but it’s the magic of Elphaba that converts Boq and Fiyero into the Tinman and the Scarecrow. You needn’t look very hard for this spoiler, because Ethan Slater is giving no f’s on Instagram about it and neither is the trailer.

Nessarose tries to do a love spell to make Boq fancy her but it backfires and starts shrinking his heart, so Elphaba helps him not die by giving him a mechanical one – it just makes him hollow and made of tin. Fiyero tries to save Elphaba but gets captured by the wizards guards who torture him – so Elphaba does a spell to make him not be able to die and feel any pain. This results in him becoming the scarecrow.

It would be nice to see this for the first time without the Wicked: For Good spoilers on the big screen but since the trailer never cared, nor do I!
