The Weeknd is getting DRAGGED for his horrendous acting in new film Hurry Up Tomorrow

The film has an abysmal score of 14 per cent on Rotten Tomatoes

I really love The Weeknd, but I do wish for such a visionary musician with endless great albums he would learn that nearly all of his acting ventures have been panned. We do not need to dip down the abysmal memory lane of The Idol on HBO – which was a true disaster. Needless to say, Abel Tesfaye is back playing a fictionalised version of The Weeknd in his new thriller Hurry Up Tomorrow – a film companion piece to the album of the same name and a movie quickly termed a “vanity project” by the majority of critics. But it’s The Weeknd getting dragged or his acting that is dominating the online conversation, and take one look at this viral clip and you can see why.

‘Whoever told The Weeknd he can act is going to hell’

In one video, The Weeknd is seen acting alongside Jenna Ortega and is getting dragged for his line delivery – which is extremely GCSE drama, in the kindest way possible. And kindest I mean to the GCSE drama students who are finding themselves compared to Abel’s acting when most of them are lightyears better.

More drags loomed on Twitter, with some saying “Me ignoring The Weeknd acting career so I can enjoy his music.” Another joked: “Watching The Weeknd force an acting career on us is insane. Like it’s not your calling. Stop playing in my movie theatres.”

More utter drags rolled in also, with more people slating the acting saying “I genuinely can’t tell if The Weeknd is bad at acting or he’s just really good at playing someone really f***ing irritating.” Another brutal one says: “Like we need someone in his inner circle to start being honest and tell The Weeknd that he should just stick to singing because acting is definitely not for everyone.”

The Weeknd stars in Hurry Up Tomorrow and got dragged for his bad acting in a film directed by Trey Edward Shults and co-starring Jenna Ortega and Barry Keoghan. It follows a fictionalised version of The Weeknd as an exhausted, emotionally frayed pop star spiraling during a chaotic tour. Sound familiar? That’s because all celebs are obsessed with making these kind

It’s a psychological thriller where The Weeknd’s character descends into madness – and Jenna Ortega plays a crazed superfan. Her and Barry are far too talented actors to be stranded in this. Free my icons!
