From Victorious to Wicked: Ariana Grande acting roles definitively ranked
Give that girl an Oscar you cowards
Ariana Grande is one of the most important pop stars of a generation – this much is true. But I fear the majority of the world forget that she came into the limelight as an actor way before her established career as a pop icon. But forget no more, because as Ariana Grande is absolutely smashing the entire world with the acclaim she’s garnered for her performance as Glinda in the Wicked film – and in honour of it I ranked all her acting roles.
4. Don’t Look Up
Ariana Grande played a pop star parody called Riley Bina in Don’t Look Up, a film I found quite insufferable if I’m honest. However, Ariana ate that shit up. Only ranking it last because it was a really small part and I think it’s kinda mid when pop stars play parody pop stars but she still manages to be one of the best things about the whole film.
3. Scream Queens
Fair play to Ryan Murphy, casting Ariana Grande in Scream Queens was an inspired move. And then he went all Scream on us and gave her the Drew Barrymore treatment. I wish she was in it more but what we got from her was iconic.
2. Victorious / Sam and Cat
Most Read
Ariana Grande really hit the mainstream when she starred as Cat Valentine in Victorious – and she was such a scene stealer that she ended up getting her own spin-off show with Jeannette McCurdy titled Sam and Cat, with Jeannette coming from iCarly and reprising her role. Despite the fact it’s a kid show, Ariana knocked it out of the park and really flexed her comic prowess as a performer.
1. Wicked
Ariana Grande was born to play Glinda, and when ranking her acting roles there is truly NO other place for it than at the top. Obviously, her vocals have always been and always will be stunning – but what makes her performance in Wicked so special is that she is an absolute master of performing comedy. Every choice she makes, every little movement feels so correct to the character and you can tell she’s put everything she’s got into her work to make this outstanding. It just really pays off. Now bag that best supporting actress Oscar, diva.
