The dizzying salaries the cast of Wicked got paid will defy your biggest expectations

The Wicked film has a whopping budget of over $145 million, a lot of which goes towards the huge salaries of the star studded cast and they certainly got paid a lot. And judging by how well received the movie has been, with Ariana Grande even being tipped for an Oscar, it seems it was a worthy investment.

Given the high calibre of the cast, it would make sense they were paid some very hefty salaries so let’s find out exactly how much the key players in the Wicked film each got paid for their appearance.

Ariana Grande as Glinda Upland – $15 million (£11,923,215)

As one of the two leading ladies for Wicked, it makes sense Ariana Grande would be paid an absolutely eye watering amount for her role, and according to Showbiz Galore she was paid a whopping $15 million to star as Glinda, and that’s just for part one!

Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba Thropp –  $1 million (£794,881)

Cynthia stars as the equally important Elphaba in Wicked, but it seems her salary for the film is on quite a different scale to Ariana’s. According to Showbiz Galore, Cynthia was paid $1 million to be doused in green paint on a daily basis.

It’s certainly still a huge amount of money in the grand scheme of things but does seem quite a bit less when compared to her co-star.

I won’t lie, I’m a bit of a Jeff Goldblum fan so as far as I’m concerned this man is quite literally priceless and any amount of money should be paid in order to make sure he appears in a film.

And if $2 million was the amount he got paid to appear as the Wonderful Wizard of Oz in Wicked then as cast salaries go I’m happy with that.

Jonathan Bailey as Fiyero Tigelaar – $450,000 (£357,696)

Whatever this man could have been paid for Wicked it was never going to be enough because he honestly stole the show. The amount of chemistry he has with somehow literally every person in the film is unexplainable and he really exudes star energy through the screen.

Despite his key role, Jonathan Bailey was paid just $450,000 for Wicked, which is still a decent amount of money but considering the quality of his performance this man should be getting paid in the six figures.

Ethan Slater as Boq – $350,000 (£278,208)

Last and in the nicest way possible least in terms of main cast salaries is Ethan Slater. Ethan starred in the role of Boq in Wicked and somehow he still gives off the same vibes as he did in Spongebob Squarepants the Musical.

He is obviously talented though, and was rewarded with a payday of $350,000 for the film, alongside getting to work alongside Ariana Grande every day which is always going to be a major win for anyone.
