Debunked: Is Ariana Grande quitting music now she’s in Wicked?!

I really hope not

Ariana Grande is everywhere right now thanks to the new Wicked film. She plays Glinda in the hit musical, a role she’s dreamt of playing ever since she was a little girl.

However, the 31-year-old is most known for her music, with seven studio albums and so many best-selling tracks including 7 Rings, Side to Side and One Last Time.

Now that she’s killing it in Hollywood, everyone is wondering the same thing. Is she quitting music for good?

So, is Ariana Grande quitting music?

No, Ariana isn’t quitting music, but she is making acting her priority for the foreseeable future.

She shared that on the La Culturaistas podcast earlier this month, saying: “I’m gonna say something so scary – it’s gonna scare the absolute s**t out of my fans and everyone, but I love them, and they’ll deal, and we’ll be here forever.”

“I’m always going to do ‘pop stuff,’ pinky promise, but I don’t think doing it at the rate I’ve been doing it for the past 10 years is where I see myself for the next 10. I love acting, I love musical theater. Musical theatre is my heart.”

Ariana repeated the same thing to Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show, adding: “I’m very scared to freak my fans out when I talk about this just because music and being on stage will always be a big part of my life.”

“I will always be there. We’ll always have that together, but I just, I really do love acting,” she continued before revealing she would love to get more big TV or film roles in the future.

Ariana was actually an actress first

It might seem surprising that the singer is happy to put her entire music career on hold, but if you know anything about Ariana, it’s not actually that shocking at all.

She started her entire career as an actress, rising to fame after starring as Cat Valentine in the Nickelodeon series Victorious, which aired from 2010 to 2013.

Ariana then appeared in its spin-off series Sam & Cat from 2013 to 2014 and released her debut album Yours Truly at the same time.

As soon as she was cast in Victorious, the teen star told her managers that she wanted to release an R&B album, but acting has always been in her heart too.

So, you won’t be seeing any new songs or albums from Ariana any time soon, but it looks like Wicked is just the start of a long and successful film career.
