Yalie Thomas Burke is running for State Representative

The military veteran is currently studying at Yale

Thomas Burke served tours in Iraq and Afghanistan before enrolling in the Yale Divinity School. He announced that he will run for State Representative in Connecticut’s second district on Sunday.

This is not the first time Thomas has been in the spotlight, as he is already well-known for advocating causes that affect veterans (think, post-separation diagnoses of PTSD, and access to medicinal marijuana).

When in office, Thomas promises to raise the minimum wage, provide access to healthcare and improve Connecticut’s standard of education.

The lifelong Bethel resident plans on becoming a Congregational minister after graduation.

Thomas said: “Our district deserves a fresh face, one who is willing and able to be a dedicated asset to our community and will be capable of working with legislators to bring business back to Connecticut.”
