Early Monday morning just after midnight, a UW-Madison student, 23, was attacked on the 700 block of State Street by Richard Wasley,36.

According to The Wisconsin State Journal, The student was carrying a few items, including a comforter, when Wasley attacked him with a knife.

The student believes he would have been stabbed between the head and torso, had he not used his comforter to protect himself. The police agree the blanket likely protected him from serious injury.

After being lunged at, he dropped his things and ran to the police, who then found Wasley at the other end of State Street, where he was arrested and tentatively charged with first-degree reckless endangerment, carrying a concealed weapon and disorderly conduct while armed.
