UW-Madison ranks in the top 50 universities in the world

The Times Higher Education World University Rankings ranked UW-Madison as the 43rd best university in the world.

The THE list is created yearly and is a ranking of the top 1,000 universities in the world. The rankings are calibrated through 13 performance indicators including research, international outlook and learning environment.

UW-Madison increased its ranking by two places since receiving 45th place in 2017.

When comparing UW-Madison to rivals like Minnesota, Michigan State and Ohio State, UW-Madison is the clear winner. The Big 10 rivals rank 56th, 83rd and 70th respectively.

The university also ranked 18th in social sciences and 27th for business and economics.

The top two universities in the world, University of Oxford and University of Cambridge are UK schools. The United States debuts with a tie in third between California Institute of Technology and Stanford.
