Former UW-Madison basketball coach, Bo Ryan, earns his place in the Basketball Hall of Fame

Bo Ryan will take his place amongst talented players and coaches for all the amazing years he gave the Badger basketball program

The former Wisconsin head-coach will take a well-deserved place in the Hall of Fame along with seven other basketball idols. He’ll be awarded with players like Tim Duncan, Scott May, and Jay Williams in the Hall of Fame Induction Celebration in November.

“Collectively, this group broke barriers, won championships, set records, competed for their country, and left a lasting mark on the coaching profession. Each inductee is uniquely deserving of a permanent place in our game’s history,” says Reggie Minton, deputy executive director of the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) about the 2017 class.

As Minton said, Bo Ryan’s basketball resume is one that will forever be remembered in Wisconsin. He started his coaching career at UW-Platteville, establishing a place on map with over 300 wins and multiple NCAA division III titles. After spending two seasons with Milwaukee’s program, Bo Ryan transitioned to UW-Madison to forever change Bucky hoops. In his 14 years with the Badgers, Ryan racked up hundreds of wins and seven Big Ten Championships. His career can be remembered for giving the Badgers their fair chance at the national championship game 2015 against Duke.

Bo Ryan and his 2017 induction class will join some of the most notable names in college basketball history. Their names, talents, and feats will be forever remembered as their plaques sit inside the College Basketball Experience in Kansas City, MO.

Bo gave us many great years, it’s about time his legacy takes a permanent place in the Hall of Fame for all to see. More information about the spectacular event can be found here.
