BREAKING: Third accuser in Alec Cook case comes forward

She reported being sexually assaulted in a downtown apartment last year

A third accuser has come forward on sexual assault allegations against UW-Madison student Alec R. Cook.

The 20-year-old Madison woman reported that Cook sexually assaulted her in her downtown apartment in 2015.

It was just announced earlier today that the suspect turned himself in to the Madison Police Department last night after a second accuser came forward.

She told detectives “I saw the news story and was empowered by another girl being able to tell what happened to her, that I thought I could now finally tell.”

Last week Cook was tentatively charged on two accounts of second Degree Sexual Assault, Strangulation, Battery and False Imprisonment. Cook may face additional charges of second degree sexual assault.

Anyone with additional information is urged to contact Madison area crime stoppers at 608-266-6014.
