Thoughts you have during your first week of class

Catch you later thirsty Thursday

Ahh first day jitters! You know, the butterflies’ fluttering inside the night before school begins. The thrill you feel when picking out your back to school outfit or the joy of buying new pens and notebooks. The hours leading up to the first day are so exciting, but the mood can easily shift after experiencing your first week of classes. Here are a few thoughts you will probably have during your first week of school.

Why is this class so far away?

No one told me I would have to set my alarm for 7:45 to get to my 8:50 on time. I do not want to walk all the way across campus in the heat. Ugh.

The grade distribution is so harsh

I need a 94 or better in this class to get an A? Seriously?

Why is every test on a Friday morning?

Goodbye early travel plans and fun Thursday nights. Catch you later Thirsty Thursday.

I’m SO happy I have a friend in this class

Who else would I vent to and compare notes with?

I’m so happy the tests are open book

Definitely going to squeeze all of my notes onto an index card the night before the test. No need to memorize little details! Cheers to tiny handwriting!

This class room is FREEZING

Is there anyway you can make it warmer in here? It’s hard to focus when I’m shivering.

Do I really need to take all notes by hand?

My handwriting is horrendous, and I can’t write very quickly. Typing up my notes would be immensely better.

Can I keep my phone/computer out?

I promise I’ll only use it for class purposes. Never for Facebook, snapchat, or instagram. Lol.

I’m so happy I can eat in here

9:00 am chem means breakfast in the lab!

Why is the syllabus so long?

My brain is already exploding just from reading the course guidelines.I can’t imagine how I’m going to feel when I actually have to do work.

This class is a joke

My grade is determined by writing reviews on movies. This is amazing, but also why am I paying for this.

Is there extra credit?

I’ll wash your car and walk your dog if you promise to give me a couple of extra points, or a lot of extra points.

Do I have to sign in to every lecture?

Well, there goes getting the notes from friends and skipping class. See you EVERY day in lecture!

I’m dropping this class

There is no way I am spending 10 hours a week on homework assignments. So long econ.

Getting to class is a work out!

No need to go to the gym every day, I have my trek to history 101! Add bascom to this commute, and I have my workout for the whole week.

I need a nap after this

I’m not used to paying attention for this long after summer break.

I miss high school classes

I loved getting credit for just doing my homework, being nice to my teachers, and showing a great deal of effort.

Did you say group projects?

Somewhat relying on others to help with an assignment = amazing.

My TA looks so cute

If I befriend her will I get a better grade?

Is it Friday yet?

Counting down the seconds.

The first week of classes can definitely be overwhelming, but don’t let it scare you too much. Remember to plan things out, and make a clear schedule in order to stay organized. Best of luck!
