Gofundme for Taylor Force raises over $25,000

Record-setting fundraising reflects outpouring of love for the Force family

A Gofundme set up after Vanderbilt student Taylor Force was stabbed to death in Israel on Tuesday has more than doubled its target for donations.

The initial target of $10,000 was surpassed within 3 hours, and in the last 24 hours the amount donated has doubled to nearly $30,000.

The Gofundme was set up by Brian Modisett, who was Taylor’s friend and classmate.  He set up the account to help Taylor’s family in covering funeral expenses.

With reference to the generosity of donations, Brian told The Tab:

“Taylor was the kind of person that made everyone he knew a better person. His charismatic personality and selflessness were only a few of the many characteristics that made him so admired and loved at Owen. I never saw him in class without a smile and a positive attitude and his demeanor truly made him a leader on campus.

“The outpouring of support the Owen community has received today from our GoFundMe campaign shows us just how many lives Taylor touched and how much he meant to his family and friends. Taylor made me a better man and I will forever be grateful that he was my friend.”

Chancellor Zeppos sent out an e-mail informing everyone of the details of the horrific attack that took Taylor’s life.

Donations have been made both anonymously and under names. The highest amount of money donated thus far by an individual is $360, by Michael Granoff.

The page has also had nearly two thousand shares on Facebook, and is continuing to garner momentum.
