UVA ranked 3rd best public school in America

And 25th overall

US News and World Report has released its list of the top universities in America. UVA comes in 25th, and 3rd for public universities specifically.

The top overall spots belonged to Princeton, Harvard, and UChicago. Private schools comprised the entire top 20.

The top two public schools were UC Berkeley and UCLA.

Duke came in at 9th, UNC Chapel Hill at 30th, William & Mary 32nd and Virginia Tech was 69th.

Criteria for the rankings included graduate outcomes (year-by-year completion and graduation rates), the number of students receiving Pell Grants, faculty resources, student satisfaction, financial resources, expert opinion, student excellence and alumni giving.
