The game was played at the Wake Forest University Kentner Stadium on Sunday, November 6th. The team broke the tournament scoring record, increasing it from 10 to 13.  Additionally, Caleigh Foust, a Fourth Year from Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania, was named tournament MVP after making three goals, including the game winners against the competing Boston College and Wake Forest University.

Four different players of varying ages were able to score throughout the game, and the Virginia goalie was able to make six saves, which trumped the Tar Heels’ four saves.

Head Coach Michelle Madison stated in her interview that, “It’s amazing to see their smiles and their tears of joy and you really see how much it means to them, to see the hard work and sacrifice to build the belief, because it’s hard to have the belief when you’ve never done it before. They found it somewhere deep inside to believe everything was possible.”

Congratulations Cavaliers!
