Otto Warmbier sentenced to 15 years hard labor in North Korea

He has been charged with subversion

After a one-hour trial, third year Otto Warmbier has been sentenced to 15 years hard labor in North Korea.

Otto was arrested in early January as he tried to leave the country with a tour group. He has been charged with subversion.

Two weeks ago in a press conference, he admitted to trying to steal a flag supposedly in exchange for a used car valued up to $10,000. It’s still unclear whether that was a coerced confession or not.

“The aim of my task was to harm the motivation and work ethic of the Korean people. This was a very foolish aim.”

He also said it was the “worst mistake” of his life.
