Even with Perrantes out we still clutched an important win

Having no appendix should be a requirement for prospective UVA basketball players

As pretty much all UVA fans know, London Perrantes did not step on to the court during Tuesdays’s game.

He had an emergency appendectomy and will most likely also miss the game Friday against William and Mary.

We may have been missing him, and his absence did not go unnoticed, but it is hard to say if the win would have been any prettier.

Last night’s game against Ohio State presented many nail-biting moments, especially near the end.

Leading by five with less then a minute to go, Ohio sank a three to minimize our our lead to two. Through poise and patience, we managed to come out on top.

We were expected to win by eight before the news of London’s absence. However, after the announcement, the Cavaliers were expected to fall short. Despite this, the boys pulled through and won by six in a 64-58 win over the Buckeyes.

The Buckeyes have lost the last three games and we handed them their fourth straight loss. But it was not pretty.

As a team we struggled to defend the paint (which is exactly how we lost to George Washington) and that has got to change.

Perrantes could have helped the team cut back on unnecessary turnovers and maybe would have provided better and smarter looks but we still did a pretty decent job putting points on the board.

Darius Thompson did a pretty great job filling London’s shoes with six assists and 12 points.

We may have won, but the whole team has got to bring it in tighter: we need to make better decisions on offense and protect the paint.
