I miss home cooking already

Thanksgiving was only a few days ago yet the mashed potatoes still haunt my dreams

I said it once and I’ll say it again, I love Thanksgiving.

The food is the best of any holiday hands down, totally justifying the inevitable food comas we all suffer. Already being back at school makes me especially sad to know that instead of endless leftovers, I’m looking at Newcomb this week (whoops I still have 40 of my original 50 meal swipes left).

So to help all of us keep the memory of Mom’s cooking alive, feast your eyes on what made my day heavenly.

I apologize in advance for any resulting drool-related computer issues.

My sister’s fall sangria, aka fancy jungle juice

Oysters Rockefeller on the grill

Cranberry apple brie bake

Crab-stuffed mushrooms

Somehow that was all only the appetizer course, so I knew it was going to be a long day.

How I felt at that point in the food marathon, adequately expressed by my Golden Retriever Sunshine

After a too brief intermission, it was time for the main dinner. I was thankful for my youthful metabolism.

Apparently all this stuff had to be cooked. I had no idea.

This is a Hokie, right?

The fan favorite

Green bean casserole AND stuffing!

Collard greens, which I actually do not like but eat anyways because, like, nutrients

Deviled eggs with the secret ingredient of wasabi. Have to keep people on their toes

I think dying by food over-indulgence is a respectable way to go

You have to add a pinch of Wahoowa

And as if all of that wasn’t enough, pie and ice cream ensued. I was too stuffed and sleepy to remember to snap a picture of dessert. I’m surprised I even made it up from the table.

Sunshine once again beautifully models my exact mood.

I know I’ll be dreaming of the food I conquered Thanksgiving 2015 for a long time. That is until next year, of course.
