What are you thankful for?

Hoos reflect on what they appreciate this Thanksgiving season

After students have powered through their remaining schoolwork this month (midterms just ended, where did all these essays come from?), they can finally take a breath of fresh Fall air and appreciate everything making the Thanksgiving holiday truly worthy of its name.

We asked what everyone is thankful for and the answers just might melt your heart.

Grace Muth, Fourth Year, College

“I’m thankful for my friends that have gotten me through the past couple years here at UVA which have been incredibly tumultuous. I feel very blessed to have them in my life. Also family for loving and supporting me.”

Nicole Abdullah, Fourth Year, College

“My hair – because I just really think it’s a comfort for a lot of people and I have donated my hair in the past to cancer patients. They sent me a letter back explaining how special it would be for a woman or man who lost their hair to cancer.”

Harrison Rose, First Year, College

“I’m definitely thankful for my family and UVA just in general. All my professors have been really nice recently and I’ve come to appreciate the education a lot more.” Harrison cites his class on mindfulness for his thankful outlook.

Cameron Rangecroft, First Year, Curry School

“My family and friends just for how much better they’ve made my life and everything they’ve given me.”

Malcolm Stewart, Second Year, College

“Malcolm Brogdon and Hoos basketball for bringing me joy and happiness time and time again.”

Carerra Lucas, Second Year, College

“I’m thankful to be at a great university with lots of supportive friends and family members.”

Spenser Gilliand, Second Year, College

“I’m thankful for a lot…specifically my great uncle. He sort of guided me through high school in a sense. He was a positive role model.”

Whitney Harris, Second Year, College

“My family because every Thanksgiving we always go to Delaware to visit my aunt’s home where we play games and have a dessert competition. Family means a lot to us.”
