Hydrogen sulfide leak at 21 Pearl caused by suicide attempt

Eleven people injured

It has been confirmed that the hydrogen sulfide leak at 21 Pearl was the result of a chemical suicide attempt.

The victim was verified to be a student, but no information was revealed as to if he attended UT.

The student’s apartment door featured a sign saying: “Danger: Watch Out, hydrogen sulfide.”

UT representatives said that no information on the identity of the victim was immediately available.

Students in need of a place to stay after the incident were asked to call the Office of the Dean of Students for assistance and other resources.
