BREAKING: Carjacking leads to arrest on 30th and Figueroa

Not a shooting, as originally reported

LAPD tackled and arrested a man on the corner of 30th St and Figueroa St. after he fled from a carjacking.

According to witnesses, the carjacking took place near 41th St and Broadway. The man then crashed the car and fled on foot until LAPD tackled him about ten blocks from the jacking at around 7:40pm.

According to an officer on the scene, during his flee, the arrested man supposedly stole a bicycle and a cell phone. He was arrested as a suspect for all three thefts.

Witnesses heard the man screaming curses at the LAPD and saw him attempt to bite the officers.

In response, the man was placed onto a stretcher where first responders placed a wrap over his head to prevent him from biting. Minutes later, the man was loaded into an ambulance and taken away from the scene.

The scene is now clear.
