USC WR Juju Smith-Schuster storms out of training after fight

The blowout loss to Alabama hasn’t helped with Trojan morale

Tensions are flaring among USC football teammates.

JuJu Smith-Schuster stormed off the USC practice field today after a fight with the defense during a 11-on-11 practice and needed to be talked back onto the field by cornerback Adoree’ Jackson, head coach Clay Helton and offensive coordinator Tee Martin.

Following Saturday’s devastating 52-6 loss against Alabama, this speed bump at practice could lead to the beginning of a very rough ride for the Trojans.

Apparently Smith-Schuster initiated the fight after batting down a ball, ran to the other side of the field for 10 minutes and only returned after the rest of the team coaxed him back. Smith-Schuster declined to comment after practice.

Smith-Schuster didn’t have a great game at Alabama (one catch for nine yards), and the lack of success on the field, both individually and as a team, could negatively impact the Trojans. It’s up to Clay Helton to take back control of the team with whatever action he deems necessary to avoid further conflict.
