USC LB Osa Masina is currently under investigation for sexual assault

He was suspended yesterday for violating team rules

Osa Masina will miss the opening game of the season as he is currently being investigated for sexual assault.

It was confirmed yesterday that the Linebacker from Utah was to be suspended for season opener against Alabama. Masina will not make the trip to Dallas.

Masina is the subject of an investigation in both Utah and Los Angeles. According to Fox, one of the incidents occurred in Salt Lake City this summer.

Historically, USC has been tough in regards to player suspensions and therefore it is likely that Masina will not feature until the case is resolved. In 2014, cornerback Josh Shaw was suspended for lying about an ankle injury. In the same year, TE Bryce Dixon was accused of sexual assault and was subsequently expelled. A judge later overturned the expulsion.
