Why USC is actually the top party school in the US

The Princeton Review named Wisconsin-Madison #1… where even is that

The same group that made your life miserable with expensive SAT preps has now dug their claws into ranking national colleges’ party scenes. We’re still clueless as to why, but following a tradition that began in 1993, Princeton Review published their annual ranking of the top party schools in the nation.

University of Wisconsin-Madison was named top dog, followed by West Virginia University and University of Illinois. USC didn’t even crack into the top 20 ranked.

Although we’ve reached the point of performing a successful keg stand and really shouldn’t care what Princeton Review has to say, here are a few reminders why Princeton Review’s ranking is drunk and should really go home.

Playboy ranked USC in the top 5 party school – twice

Playboy magazine has ranked USC in the top 5 party schools in 2012 and 2013. Needless to say, Hugh Hefner will always make our invite list. With good reason – rushing your favorite fraternity/sorority almost guarantees you’ll be attending invites, formals and exclusive parties all over the Los Angeles County throughout the semester.

And if you didn’t rush, weekly house parties can be found on 30th Street and on Ellendale. Lastly, after turning twenty-one or scoring a believable fake ID, whichever comes first, you can make your way to the legendary 901 bar for drinks and partying with LA’s finest.

Our parties can rage year-round

Unlike UW-Madison, Southern California doesn’t receive snow or rain for half of the year. Instead, we enjoy the California sun year-round, making college parties a weekly, if not daily, event. Whether it’s a pool party at Lorenzo in November or end of the year extravaganza, booze and sunshine go hand and hand.

An anonymous sophomore even wrote on UW-Madison’s Niche profile, “In winters there are very few outdoor activities and students are much less social due to the frigid weather. The campus goes into a hibernation of sorts.”

Yikes. Thanks, but no thanks.

USC takes tailgating to the next level

You might have heard that football is considered a religion in the Bible Belt, but freshmen’ football tailgating is considered a far more important rite of passage at SC.  Whether you’re attending the games at the LA Coliseum or joining the alumni and students for some serious pregame, drinks and games begin at the crack of dawn at McCarthy Quad and Alumni Park.

Don’t be surprised if you begin drinking at 9AM and stumble back the next morning.

So dear, Princeton Review, I think USC has one message for you: stick with what you know, which in your case, includes selling overpriced college exam books to overworked high school students.
