Every thought you’ll have during the UNC vs. Duke basketball game tonight

‘It’s almost time to rush Franklin’

The UNC-Duke rivalry is one of the greatest – if not the greatest – rivalries in all of sports. It is the best rivalry in college basketball without a doubt. Here’s every thought to cross your mind before, during and after the big game.

Before the game, during the pregame announcements and sports facts, your mind will probably be racing with anticipation. Your thoughts will probably go something like this:

“Are they really trying to hype up UCLA and Oregon as a rivalry on par with UNC and Duke? They will never be on our level.”

“I hope Theo is playing tonight.”

“I can’t wait to watch this game, but I should do my work for Friday first.”

“Update: I definitely didn’t do my work, but it’s fine.”

Then, the game will be about to start. Our players will run onto the court to warm-up and you will be full of pride, thinking:

“Theo is in uniform! Yes!”

“These fans are so obnoxious, but at least Dick Vitale isn’t here so that’s a plus.”

Then the game will finally start and you will realize this is the most exciting part of being a UNC student. Literally nothing compares to how you’re feeling and thinking right now:

“Finally! I’ve been waiting all day, week, year for this game!”

“This is a good start for the Heels.”

“Joel Berry three! Justin Jackson three! Kenny Williams three!”

“And there’s Theo! Theo, Theo, Theo, Theo!”

“Did Grayson just try to trip him?”

“We are on fire tonight!”

“Luke Kennard is totally better than Grayson.”

“Grayson totally tried to trip him.”

“That’s a horrible call ref!”

“That’s a fantastic call ref!”

“Kennedy is killing them with all these rebounds.”

“I wish I was as athletic as Isaiah.”

“LUUUUUUUUUUKKKKKEEEEEE!”

During halftime, you’ll have time to rest and just think something along the lines of:

“This is a great game so far.”

“I need more food.”

“This bathroom line is about to be unbearably long.”

The second half will prove to be even more interesting and exciting than the first:

“We are still on fire!”

“That 3 from Justin was deeeeeeep!”

“Okay ref, I KNOW you saw Grayson trip him that time!”

“These fans aren’t so obnoxious when they’re losing.”

“Pretty sure Coach K should’ve gotten a tech for that.”

“Oh he NEEDS to get a tech for that!”

“Do you think that he’ll take away their locker room again?”

“Maybe just take away all their Duke stuff?”

“It’s almost time to rush Franklin.”

Then, it happens. The buzzer sounds with a UNC victory. You absolutely can’t believe it. You jump out of your seat, hug your fellow Tar Heel and think:

“Woohoo! Let’s rush Franklin!”

“Don’t be that guy who jumps over a bonfire or that guy who knocks someone down.”

“Great game! Let’s do it again in a few weeks!”
