Why October is the best month on campus
Fall Break, sweaters, and drunkenness? Count me in
Sometimes, fall can be hard to take with all of the midterms and extra commitments coming at you in full swing. But October is really something to celebrate — it is easily the best month of the year at Carolina. Why?
Weather
This one is a given. In October, there are colored leaves, cool breezes and picnics on the quad. I’m sure we all can’t wait to see hundreds of pictures of Wilson shot through a bunch of colored leaves in trees. Everything is just better when it’s not 80 degrees all the time. Sweater weather may not come early this year but that doesn’t mean you can’t get away with wearing one. October is one of the only times in the year in North Carolina when you can wear a tank top or a sweatshirt and be totally comfortable in both.
Fewer Classes
Fall break is just around the corner, folks, and guess what that means? Fewer classes, less work, and less stress! Whether you’re staying on campus, going home or going on an exotic vacation, you won’t have to go to class while doing so. That’s what really matters.
Late Night with Roy
When else can you get such an iconic Carolina event like Late Night with Roy? Not in any other month, that’s for sure! We get to see the teams goof off in this classic kick-off of the men’s basketball season — nothing will ever beat Kennedy Meeks’s lip-syncing — and watch them play some real ball. What more could you ask for?
P.S.– Roy is just too adorable to pass up.
Football
Duh. Football season has already started with quite the bang. But with the beautiful weather of October tacked onto that, it’s sure to continue to be awesome.
Picture it: tailgating with leaves falling everywhere and that cool breeze blowing through your hair… and beer. Lots of that too. This is why we love October.
Halloween
It’s hard to beat the long-standing tradition of Halloween on Franklin Street. It’s a night full of camaraderie, inappropriate costumes, crazy parties and drunkenness. Halloween is quite frankly the best night of the whole month– even if you don’t remember it all.
