UNC ranked best in value for 15th consecutive time
And that’s the Carolina Way
Once again, UNC has been ranked the best value out of all public colleges in the nation, according to Kiplinger’s Personal Finance Magazine. It is also ranked number one for the best out-of-state value.
Carolina strives to keep its tuition low, helping to keep the title of “Best Value” for the past 15 years. About 47 percent of UNC students receive financial aid packages, averaging $18,000 per person.
Chancellor Carol Folt said: “Providing a great value to the people of North Carolina and students around the nation and the world is a hallmark of our 222-year history.”
Second and third place for best values in public colleges were the University of Florida and the University of Virginia.
Kiplinger’s looks for colleges with reasonable prices that have quality education. In the price, they include the cost of books, room and board, the average amount of financial aid that meets demonstrated need and average student debt before graduation.
UNC’s low cost allows students from all backgrounds to attend, playing a major role in what makes our university so great. We continue to top “Best Value” rankings not only because of our good financial aid, but because of the high quality of our academics.
Congratulations, UNC. You’ve been the best for one-and-a-half decades.
