UMass class of 2021 breaks record for highest incoming GPA

Don’t let it get to your head, you’re still fresh meat

Step aside sophomores and upperclassmen —the class of 2021 is coming in…smart.

According to a UMass statement, the freshman class has officially usurped all others with regard to incoming GPA, and they are clearly a force to be reckoned with.

This influx of about 4,700 students marks yet another turning point at UMass as the flagship campus continues to foster an academically rigorous environment for students.

Approximately 660 of these freshman were admitted into the Commonwealth Honors College with an average SAT score of 1386 and an average high school GPA of 4.27. This lends way to UMass' 14-year streak of record breaking entrance level GPAs. Not to mention campus diversity and overall class size are also on the rise.

Chancellor Subbaswamy said it best: "our campus continues to attract extraordinarily talented students from throughout Massachusetts, across the nation and around the globe. The impressive academic profile of the Class of 2021 is a testament to our excellence.”

So to all those freshmen out there: keep being excellent, and thanks for making us all look good. Go U!
