UMass’ Tajae Sharpe drafted by Tennessee Titans

He was the first pick of the fifth round

I was always under the impression that UMass football was just an excuse to drink in a parking lot and steal hot dogs. But apparently the real excitement was actually happening on the field.

While most people disappeared into Hamp or Berk, or power-nappedĀ for a few hours, some people were actually paying attention to the game. One player in particular was gaining all the right attention.

UMass wide receiver Tajae Sharpe is going pro. On Saturday, Sharpe was drafted to the Tennessee Titans as the first pick of the fifth round. This makes him the highest drafted Minuteman since 2010, when the Jets drafted Vlad Ducasse in the second round. So, his job search went really went.

Sharpe was one of ten players drafted by the Titans in order to build a team around second year quarterback Marcus Mariota.

Maybe this news will motivated UMass students to go the games next year. Probably not, but maybe.
