Durocher sentenced to three to five years in state prison

His family wept as he was led out of the court room in handcuffs

Patrick Durocher has been sentenced to three to five years in state prison at Hampshire County Courthouse.

The Longmeadow native was found guilty of rape and assault and battery on February 5 after a jury deliberation lasting over nine and a half hours. The jurors heard testimonies in court from the survivor, medical experts, friends and bystanders for over six days of trial.

State sentencing guidelines indicate that a person with no criminal record who is convicted of rape can be sentenced from five to seven and a half years. Judge Mary-Lou Rup said that she believed mitigating factors such as his age and consumption of alcohol authorized a shorter sentence.

Durocher will also be held to four years of probation after his jail time. Durocher’s family was seen weeping as he is led out of the court room in hand cuffs.
