Why UGA only gets better after freshman year

Athens is like a fine wine – it gets better with age

After a couple of long semesters, it’s hard not to look back on one’s time spent at UGA and reminisce. I remember when I thought my freshman year was the most fun I was ever going to have. I was wrong in the best way possible.

While I can’t promise the same experience to everyone, to me, Athens is like a fine wine – it only gets better with age.

The longer you spend in Athens, the more friends you can make. The more places you can go. The opportunities in this city are truly endless. In my two years here, I’ve met some absolutely amazing people and forged unforgettable memories.

Obviously, school does start to get harder, but as time goes by and your classes become more major-focused, it’s easy to find a solid group of people to start a study group with. I have three people in particular that I personally need to thank for helping me survive Accounting II.

If freshman year at UGA is when you experience college and a new city for the first time, sophomore year is when you start to lay down your roots and a foundation for your future. It’s when you start to figure out what you want to do with your life. It’s also a great opportunity to get even more involved on campus, since you’ve already been here for awhile.

Obviously no town is perfect, but Athens comes pretty damn close. To any freshman who thinks college can’t get any better than this – just wait for next semester.
