Big #FireKatehi walk-out happening tomorrow morning

Leaving class at 11:30

#FireKatehi protestors took over on MU this afternoon to demand the resignation of Chancellor Linda Katehi.

The demonstrations have been ongoing since February after she was appointed a board member of the non-profit Devry University

The protestors had signs, they had music, but most importantly they had their voices – the microphone helped as well.

They took turns talking about the chancellor’s actions and how she needs to be held accountable and “take responsibility for her actions” for what she has done to the students of UC Davis.

The protestors just outside of the MU

One of the protestors, Fay Pao, a UCD alumni (Bio Sci. Major with Art History minor), wanted to get the word out about the walkout which is happening tomorrow, April 1st.

The protest will begin at 11:30 AM with students engaging in a “walk out” in which they will leave their classes, meet at the MU, and march to Mrack Hall.

The flier for the walkout. Katehi has said she won’t attend. We’ll just have to see.

The protestors plan on having a press conference with Katehi, but if whether she shows up is “up to her” stated Pao.

Pao and her fellow students want people to “bring people” and “be ready to be loud.”

The schedule for the walkout.

I do urge that the protest be respectful though. We want her to talk. We want her cooperation. But that won’t happen if we don’t allow her to get her piece in.

We’ll see you there

I’ll see you there.
