A local man dumped body lice all over UC Berkeley campus

He allegedly deposited the insects in Rec Sports, the ASUC Student Union and Doe Library

Feeling itchy? You might want to check for body lice.

A local man is reported to have deposited the insects in bathrooms and lounge areas across the UC Berkeley campus. This includes Rec Sports, the ASUC Student Union, and Doe Library.

According to an email sent by the Recreational Sports Facility to its employees:

“After taking [a handful of paper towels and a trash bin] into a restroom stall he will wipe off countless body lice; depositing the towels and live insects in the bin. The man would then find an open seat in a lounge area and “remain there for hours.”

BARF.

Unsurprisingly, most reactions to the news haven’t exactly been positive.

Others seem to be trying to stay positive.

According to the Daily Cal, the man has since been banned from campus libraries for one year for ‘violations of the Library Code of Conduct.’ The nature of the violations were not specified. At this point, there is no word on whether or not he remains cultivating his insect habitat elsewhere on campus.

UCPD spokesperson Sgt. Sabrina Reich said in an email that she didn’t have information on the situation, adding that UCPD “is precluded from releasing confidential information about medical conditions.”
