BREAKING: Berkeley students and locals are protesting at the Campanile

The crowd is chanting ‘Not our President’

At approximately 10:30 this morning, a massive group of hundreds of Berkeley students, locals, and Berkeley High students began gathering at the base of the Campanile to protest the results of the election last night.

The crowd is chanting “Not our president”.

Speakers are giving positive messages about how we need to unite at come together.

Jessica Carr, a graduate student and instructor, moral and reasoning development who’s taking part in the protest said:

“We are all really appalled and shocked at the outcome of the election. We are standing here in solidarity to protest the exclusion of anyone who isn’t part a privileged group. It’s hard to believe that Americans could elect someone who has so many flaws”.

Another attendee, Paola, who’s a second year political science major said:

‘It’s really shocking to see that someone like trump is representative of the us. And now when people look at him from other countries this is what they see’.

Helicopters are continuing to circle the area.
