You have to live in Santa Cruz to truly appreciate it

There’s more to it than the Beach Boardwalk

California beaches have always been major attractions for people around the world. From the L.A. beaches to the shores of San Francisco, the ocean is definitely a source of wonder.

However, not many people know of the hidden gems that California has to offer – one of which is the beautiful town of Santa Cruz that sits along the coast of the Monterey Bay.

The beaches are truly one of a kind

Natural Bridges State Beach

When people think of a beach in Santa Cruz, they typically envision the Boardwalk with games, rides, and excitement at every corner. While this atmosphere certainly exists, there are several beaches to choose from if you would like to relax and get away from the bustling town – and Natural Bridges State Beach is certainly one of the best.

Its environment never fails to bring a sense of serenity and awe, and its Monarch Butterfly Natural Preserve that sits right outside the sand adds that extra element of beauty and charm.

The Redwood Forests

Whether you’re taking a stroll through the UC Santa Cruz campus or climbing the incredible hiking trails in the Santa Cruz Mountains, all you have to do is look up to feel in awe of Mother Nature’s beautiful gift in an unlikely place. Even something as simple as breathing in the smell of the redwoods will make you feel refreshed and renewed.

The amount of green is almost like a being a fairytale, and the peace it brings reaffirms how surrounding yourself with nature can really be the closest thing to heaven on Earth.

The town is quaint and beautiful

Pacific Avenue, Santa Cruz CA

Living in Santa Cruz means being part of a community that is built on the basis of love, kindness, and acceptance. The locals are nothing short of friendly and welcoming, and street performers and artists attracts tourists and locals alike. On Friday nights, jazz and blues echo throughout Pacific Avenue.

People of all ages from all walks of life stroll down the sidewalks, past cafes, tea houses, and antique shops, laughing and sparing some extra change for the humble musicians who brought life and art to the streets. Local poets recite their latest work, and one poet even sits on the sidewalk with a typewriter and offer to write a poem for anyone who asked. College students can watch a movie at one of the theaters, shop at boutique stores, or grab some freshly made ice cream at The Penny Ice Creamery.

But no matter what you decide to do in town, the strong sense of community and the loving, friendly atmosphere will always follow.

One of the best things about living in Santa Cruz is the incredible sunsets. No matter where you are at the end of the day, the sky will look different every time. It’s as though Mother Nature had taken a paintbrush and painted a masterpiece for us to witness at the end of a long day.

In addition to all these qualities, the community of Santa Cruz has the ability to bring out the best in others, making them more appreciative of nature and understand the value of community. With its level of diversity, its nurturing environment, and all its beauty and wonder, Santa Cruz is one of the best places to grow and build upon the person you have always wanted to be.

And you might make some wonderful friends along the way.
