Teen girl stalked near UC Berkeley campus

The suspect is still at large

Campus police have reported an incident of stalking near UC Berkeley campus in Albany.

A 17-year-old girl was out for a walk with her 4-year-old sibling this Saturday, when the sibling recognized a black truck from two previous encounters, one of which had already been reported to the Albany police.

According to KTVU, the suspect continued to pass her while driving around the area and appeared surprised and angry to see her.

She then walked to the UVA Community centre and reported the incident to campus police, but the suspect was unable to be located.

The man was described to be in his 40s and wearing a brown shirt. He apparently had a short, crew cut-style haircut, small eyes, a round face and a heavy or muscular build.

This October is off to a scarier than usual start in Berkeley. In the last week, the city has received reports of six armed robberies near campus.

Earlier this year, UC Berkeley was awarded the distinction of the #2 highest crime rates among colleges in the state. Here’s to hoping for the beginning of a downward trend and a safe October at Cal.
