Fire at Center St. and Shattuck in Berkeley

Berkeley Fire Department is on the scene

A fire was reported in downtown Berkeley near Shattuck and Center Street at the former Sliderbar location on Thursday afternoon.

According to Berkeleyside, “Firefighters had been able to knock down the fire by putting water on it, but were having difficulty accessing its source due to the tight quarters.”

Berkeley Fire Department was on the scene and nearby buildings were evacuated. Deputy fire chief, Donna McCracken reported that “the fire broke out in a wall at ground level in the commercial building.”
