The best (and worst) pics of Mardi Gras

Oh so many beads

This year’s Mardi Gras festivities took place with thousands of Tulane students throwing down with the locals all around the city. While Bourbon Street is nationally known as New Orleans’ main party scene, the strip of St. Charles and much of Lee’s Circle housed loads of Tulane students and their alcohol.

More commonly known as Fat Tuesday, Mardi Gras marks the last day of feasting before the beginning of the Lenten season.

However, there was very little religion affiliated with the partying that went on under the Tulane tent. The following photos have been compiled from people who both remember taking the photos, and from those who don’t.

At times, parades were almost background to the party

Still, the floats were freaking awesome

You see this shit?

Like, wow

The 610 Stompers broke it down better than a drunk dad at a Bar Mitzvah

A skywriter added a peaceful touch to the parades

Costumes showed absolutely no consistency, and were often throw together last minute

Hellish commutes to and from the parades were (hopefully) worth it

Like many others, Cara, 18, took shelter from the madness in McDonald’s because “Nuggets are awesome!”
