Josh Hupperterz hearing pushed back

The man charged with murdering Jenna Burleigh won’t have to appear in court until November

UPDATE: Hupperterz denies causing any harm to Jenna Burleigh, according to his attorney.

According to NBC, an attorney representing Josh Hupperterz asked a judge for a continuation of the scheduled preliminary hearing Wednesday morning. Hupperterz, charged in the murder of Temple student Jenna Burleigh, did not actually appear in court today, and his hearing is now set for late November.

Hupperterz has remained in jail without bail since his arrest on earlier this month.

Jenna Burleigh had disappeared after reportedly leaving Pub Webb, a bar near Temple University, with Hupperterz. She was reported missing after her family and friends could not reach her.

Hupperterz was seen walking with Burleigh to his house early Thursday morning on local surveillance cameras. Police then executed a search warrant of Hupperterz's home where they found blood spattered near the kitchen sink, rear door, and on a trash can lid, along with 10 to 15 pillow-case size bags of marijuana and about $20,000 in cash, according to Philly.com.

NBC reports Burleigh's body was then transported inside a storage bin from Hupperterz's North Philadelphia apartment. Investigators believe she was killed in his apartment and was then transported to his mother's home in Jenkintown. Burleigh's body remained there overnight and afterwards, Huppereterz used a Lyft to transport Burleigh's remains to Wayne County.

Autopsy examination shows the cause of Burleigh's death was a combination of blunt force trauma and strangulation.
