A friend of hers described Jenna as, "A free spirit who was open with everyone and didn’t care who you were, or about your past. She would be a friend to anyone, and as long as you treated her and everyone right―she was cool with you."

During the vigil, students gathered together as some spoke about Jenna during the open-mic sharing.

There were also candles and flowers provided for everyone to have during the vigil.

President Englert also said Jenna's father is starting a charity in her honor called "Backpacks for the Homeless" since she was an advocate for this cause.
