Anti-Greek life flyers have appeared on Temple’s campus

They accuse Greek life of ‘sexual assault’ and ‘hazing’

Several anti-Greek life flyers have been circulating Temple’s campus and various other colleges recently.

The flyers say: “Fuck studying, Fuck Bitches! Do you like dying young? Sexual Assault? Hazing? Alcohol and drug abuse? Then check out Greek life at Temple University!”

They also invite people to visit student activities to join, and a “disclaimer” that “fraternities and sororities do some community service each year. That other stuff comes out in the wash right?”

The flyer was also spotted at Penn State

A similar flyer was found at Penn State with the same wording but just a different link to join Greek life at Happy Valley.

Penn State recently placed a permanent ban on the fraternity Beta Theta Pi and strict restrictions on their Greek life after the death of sophomore Timothy Piazza. Timothy died on February 3rd, after he fell at the Beta Theta Pi Fraternity House.

Greek life is also being targeted at UT Austin

At UT Austin, fraternities were being vandalized with a message that said: “Prepare yourselves. We are at your gates. Your walls will fall. And you will be sacked.”

In the statement, the vandals said they were responding to the everyday crisis that is rape culture, white supremacy, and elitism.

They also accused the fraternity Fiji for being notorious for its rape room, racist parties, and horrific pledge rules. This fraternity was also compared to plantation homes since “Greek life are themselves colonial, bourgeois, patriarchal structures, founded to preserve the reproduction of elite classes.”

The UT Austin vandals said that their attacks come in response to the everyday fear and feeling of danger that these institutions and their members produce for students of color, women, queer and trans students, and other marginalized folks. They also accused Greek life of catcalls, racial slurs, rape jokes, and more are the daily realities which go unspoken and uninvestigated by authorities.

Although few students at Temple have found these flyers, it is unsure of what the individuals who made them will do afterwards and why they chose to make these accusations about Temple’s Greek life.
