SU freshman basketball walk-on charged with sex crime

Dominick Parker is scheduled to appear in court today

Syracuse freshman Dominick Parker was arrested this past Friday for sexual abuse in the first degree.

The 18-year-old was accused of having sexual contact with another 18-year-old student who was "incapable of giving consent," according to the Daily Orange.

The alleged abuse occurred west of Sadler Hall in an apartment on Stadium Place. This week, another reported sex offense occurred at Sadler Hall, a freshman dorm.

Parker was recently announced as a new walk-on for the Syracuse men's basketball team. Following the incident, he is now no longer listed on the roster, but is still on the SU student directory.

Parker, 18, from Stamford, CT is scheduled to appear in court this week.

An SU spokesperson stated that the University has suspended Parker, effective immediately. "Sexual and relationship violence is not tolerated at Syracuse University. We are now doing all that we can to support and provide assistance to those affected by the alleged incident," the spokesperson said.

Parker, from Stamford, Connecticut is scheduled to appear in court today.
