The five stages of studying at Club Bird

I’m not crying, you’re crying…

Happy (or unhappy) Finals SZN, Syracuse! If you’re like me, this “spending hours in the library” business isn’t new for you. You’ve been doing it all semester. You gave up social events, time watching Netflix, food, sleep, and pretty much every other aspect of your life. But guess what? It isn’t over just yet. Here are the five stages of studying at Bird Library, brought to you by none other than the nocturnal queen of Bird.

“This is it! This is the night I’m going to finish all the work I’ve been putting off all week.”

Ready to get to work

You’re feeling optimistic about accomplishing something because you’ve been putting off a lot of important work. Ever since you got back from Thanksgiving break, it seems like you can’t get your shit together but it’s time to try. You’ve got a list of things to do and you’re ready to get to work.

“I have so much time so I don’t have to start yet.”

Procrastination like no other

You’re convinced that you don’t have as much work as you think you do. You’re convinced that there’s all the time in the world. You’re going to procrastinate by doing something dumb. Yeah, right. You’re living in a dream.

“Okay it’s time to focus. I’m going to get coffee.”

You and I both know that coffee is going to make you too jittery to be able to function but you do it anyway.  Pages is open until 11 and you show up at 10:59, begging for a cup of Freedom of Espresso coffee. They’re mad but they give it to you anyway.

You’ve been able to concentrate for quite a while but then your friend tags you in a meme…

srsly though

Well, shit. It’s over now.

“That’s over. It’s cancelled.”

Why am I always here until 3am?

It’s 3am. You tried your best and did what you could but it’s time to go home.

Catch me at Bird Library every day this week and next, bawling my eyes out over nothing.
