Syracuse football players stabbed, former teammate charged

Corey Winfield and Chauncey Scissum are now in a stable condition after being stabbed on Saturday night.

Former teammate Naesean Howard has been charged after a stabbing took place at 321 Slocum Heights Drive.

He now faces two counts of assault in the second degree and criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree.

Howard left the Orange football program and Syracuse his freshman year, and was readmitted to the school in 2015, but not allowed to rejoin the team.

He was the first recruit of the 2014 recruiting class to commit to SU, but he was briefly suspended during fall camp for missing curfew, and left shortly after being reinstated.

The school has indefinitely suspended him.
