Have yourself a Merry Drunken’ Christmas

‘Put some records on while I pour’

We all love hot chocolate, and what’s a holiday season without egg nog? But this is college, these drinks need a little twist.

After asking a few of my upperclassmen friends on how they spiked these two classic holiday drinks , I got all sorts of ideas. So, I decided to try out a few suggestions and see how they turned out.

Drink #1

Hot chocolate with Baileys Irish Cream

I’ve converted. This drink needs to be at every holiday party.

Adding the cream tones down the chocolate and makes the whole drink extremely creamy.

Drink #2

Egg nog with Rum

I usually don’t like egg nog, it’s just not that egg-cellent. But, adding the rum to it changed the flavor a ton in the best way possible.

It was still very creamy and rich, yet had the flavor of rum. If you add in crushed graham crackers or wafers, it tastes just like tiramisu. Highly recommended.

Did someone say shots?!

The Peppermint Patty

This shot is minty, chocolately, and so refreshing.

All you need is:

  • 1 shot of Peppermint Schnapps
  • Use chocolate syrup as a chaser immediately after the shot

The Gingerbread Man

This drink doesn’t taste like gingerbread, but it’s still super good.

What you need:

  • 1/2 shot of Bailey’s Irish Cream
  • 1/2 shot of Butterscotch Schnapps
  • A dash of Cinnamon Schnapps

There are plenty of recipes out there, but from what I found, these seem to be the most common. With that said, may your holidays be merry and your drinks be tasty.
